Being a child with Ataxia

Let me be totally clear about this. I had the most enjoyable, safe, loving, active, fun and fantastic upbringing that anybody could hope to have.  I pay tribute to my mum and dad for working so hard to provide me with the things that guided me to the person I am today. Despite my mum living with Ataxia for as far back as I can remember, my dad not only supported her fully but played his part, not just, in my growing up, but the growing up of my brother and sister as well.

I enjoyed  most sports as well as a many years in the scouts as a boy and a leader.

What should be understood is that there were no clear indications that Ataxia was going to play a big part in my life.  It seems that it could happen to anyone without warning.  It is only after diagnosis that I started to realise that minor incidents I had in the past,  may have been caused by the Ataxia getting to work, in its early stages.

I was 31 when I was diagnosed with (as yet an unidentifiable) CA. I am now 36.
