The Past

Being a child with AtaxiaLet me be totally clear about this. I had the most enjoyable, safe, loving, active, fun and fantastic upbringing that anybody could hope to have. I pay tribute to my mum and dad for working so hard to provide me with the things that guided me to the person I am today. Despite my mum living with Ataxia for as far back as I can remember, my dad not only supported her fully but played his part, not just, in my growing up, but the growing up of my brother and sister as well.I enjoyed most sports as well as a many years in the scouts as a boy and a leader. What should be understood is that there were no clear indications that Ataxia was going to play a big part in my life. It seems that it could happen to anyone without warning. It is only after diagnosis that I started to realise that minor incidents I had in the past, may have been caused by the Ataxia getting to work, in its early stages. I was 31 when I was diagnosed with (as yet an unidentifiable) CA. I am now 36.
