My Love of Walking Anyone who knows that climbing a hill can be a fantastic achievement will understand the sense of loss I carry most days. I was brought up in Wood Green in North London and I came to appreciate how pleasant it was to be out in the country, where the air was fresh and everywhere you looked it was so much more pleasing to the eye than being in a built up busy town. Now I wouldn't call Wood Green nice. I find it hard to see it is the town where I grew up. Again I pay tribute to my Dad for financing the weekend scout camps and holidays which allowed me to be close to the land which I was starting to love. I must also pay tribute to Bob( who is now my brother in-law) and Neil who were both my scout leaders. Without their time and effort me and my mates would never had benefited so much from a youth organization. We learned how to navigate using map & compass, a skill of which I became passionate.
